EMU DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE AT 29TH IFI GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Following closely the activities of IFI, EMU Interior Architecture Department has participated in the General Assembly meeting held in Dubai. EMU Interior Architecture Department has attended the assembly as an observer. During the General Assembly, new members were elected for the IFI IA Executive board. 


The 2020-2021 IFI Executive Board includes the IFI President Titi Ogufere, Founder and Editor of Essential Interiors Magazine (Nigeria), and Carlos Eduardo (Cadu) Scheliga, Founder and Director of Questtonó (Brazil) as IFI President-Elect. Steve Leung, IFI President 2017-2020 and Founder of Steve Leung Design Group (China) remains on the IFI Executive Board as IFI Past President.

Joining as IFI Executive Board Members are Suzie Attiwill, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Associate Dean, Interior Design, School of Architecture and Urban Design, RMIT University (Australia); Michael Cruz Pizarro, IDr., Founder/ Principal Interior Designer, MICHAEL PIZARRO INTERIOR DESIGN (Philippines); Victoria Plasencia, Founder, VP Interiorismo, Guadalajara (Mexico); Sezin Hatice Tanrıöver, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Chair Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Bahcesehir University, Istanbul Architecture (Turkey); and Urmo Vaikla, Founder and Partner of Vaikla Studio (Estonia).

Co-Opted Expert Members include Kamy Abrarpour, Founder, by Kamy, (Brazil); and Zakkiya Khan, Lecturer of Interior Architecture, Department of Architecture, University of Pretoria (South Africa).

The Department of Interior Architecture of the Eastern Mediterranean University has shared its expertise in the field of interior architecture education as part of the educational activities that it has been carrying out for years in the global educational policy studies planned to be developed within IFI. EMU Interior Architecture Department has contributed to Assoc. Prof. Dr.Asu Tozan involvement in the development process of the large-scale education program, which is intended to be influenced by the inclusion of national and local specific approaches. International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers Education Policy Review is an attempt to review and formulate through IFI, an updated and progressive education policy statement for global consultation. This project aims to create a comprehensive, future-oriented, and globally relevant Interior Architecture/Design Education Policy that will be used as a basis for the evaluation of the future curriculum and the accreditation of Worldwide Interior Architecture / Design education programs. It will assist those responsible for the design, review, and delivery of Interior Architecture / Design training programs to provide their preparation and curriculum to contribute to the quality of Interior architecture/design professional practices.
